What Is Retargeting?

Retargeting (also known as remarketing) is a technique that allows you to show ads specifically to users who have previously visited your website. Since these users have already demonstrated interest in your product or service, they are much more likely to convert than cold audiences.

How TwinRed Retargeting Works

TwinRed's retargeting is pixel-based. Here's how the process works:

  1. Install the TwinRed pixel: You place a small snippet of JavaScript code (the TwinRed pixel) on your website. This pixel fires whenever a visitor lands on your site.
  2. Build your audience: When the pixel fires, the visitor's browser is cookied (or fingerprinted where cookies are unavailable). TwinRed builds an audience list from these tagged visitors.
  3. Create a retargeting campaign: In your TwinRed campaign settings, enable retargeting and select the audience you want to target — for example, all visitors, or only visitors to a specific page such as a checkout page.
  4. Serve your ads: When a tagged user subsequently visits a TwinRed publisher site, your retargeting ad is served to them — reminding them of your brand and encouraging them to return and convert.

Benefits of Retargeting

  • Higher conversion rates compared to prospecting campaigns
  • Efficient use of ad budget — you only target users who already know your brand
  • Ability to tailor messaging based on which pages a user visited

Getting Started with Retargeting

To set up retargeting on TwinRed, log in to your account and navigate to the Retargeting section to generate your pixel code. Paste the code on the pages you want to track. Once your audience has been building for a few days, you can create a retargeting campaign and start reaching warm audiences across TwinRed's publisher network.
