Controlling Where Your Ads Appear
TwinRed gives advertisers granular control over which publisher sites and ad zones display their ads. You can use whitelists to target specific sites and blacklists to exclude sites that are not performing well for your campaigns.
Whitelists
A whitelist is a list of approved publisher sites or zones where you want your ads to appear exclusively. When you apply a whitelist to a campaign, your ads will only be served on the sites or zones included in that list — all other inventory is excluded.
Whitelists are useful when:
- You have identified top-performing sites and want to concentrate your budget there
- You want to run a brand-safe campaign on a carefully curated set of publishers
- You are retargeting a specific audience that visits known sites
Blacklists
A blacklist is a list of sites or zones you want to exclude from your campaign. When a site or zone is blacklisted, your ads will not serve there, but will continue to run across the rest of the available inventory.
Blacklists are useful when:
- Certain sites are generating low-quality traffic or poor conversion rates
- You want to block specific categories of content
- You are optimising a campaign by progressively removing underperforming placements
Three Levels of Control
TwinRed supports whitelist and blacklist targeting at three levels of granularity:
- Campaign level: Apply lists to individual campaigns
- Account level: Apply lists across your entire account
- Zone level: Target or exclude specific ad zones within a publisher site
How to Apply a Whitelist or Blacklist
You can manage your whitelists and blacklists from within the campaign settings in your TwinRed dashboard. Upload a list of site or zone IDs, or add them individually. If you need help identifying which sites to include or exclude, your account manager can assist with optimisation recommendations.
